After so many years in the Real Estate business, if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that there will always be good times and there will always be “not so good” times. But no matter what is happening with the economy, people will always need homes! Right now, there are a lot of people wondering whether to buy or sell, to make a move or to stay put, to expand their portfolio or to scale back. Unfortunately, this kind of mass uncertainty is what leads to stagnation. The truth is, there are always excellent opportunities in the Real Estate market, it’s just the nature of the opportunity that changes. It seems almost too simplistic, but the best time to buy a house is when you need a house! The most important thing is that you’re happy with the house and that you’re buying for the right reasons.
The paradigm has shifted. People are no longer simply making their choices based on speculation – those days are over. Now, the typical home buyer has a different set of priorities. The neighborhood, the schools, the floor plan, and the “warm fuzzy” factor, all become much more important than ever. It’s not so much, “Are we going to make a return on our investment?”. It’s more, “Can I see myself living here 15, 20 or 30 years from now?” People are looking to settle down, not flip it in a couple of years. For that reason, it becomes more and more important to take the long view and ask yourself a different question, “What is my real reason for buying?”
Once you’re satisfied with your answer, you’re probably ready to start shopping.
